What percentage of your portfolio is in stocks versus bonds? Mine is about 38 percent bonds and 62 percent stocks (it obviously floats around a bit). My bonds include a short term and a broad Canadian bond market index. My stocks are globally diversified.
When determining your allocation, age isn’t the only factor to consider. Always remember: how a portfolio performs and how you will perform with a specific allocation are often two different things.
So what’s the best allocation for you to make money? In many cases, the answer is in your DNA. People aren’t machines. Personalities always matter. In investing, portfolio allocation is like choosing your running attire.
